Despite the heroic accomplishments, sacrifices and struggles, the children of people who were once slaves in America are still without human rights. Even those who were dropped of in Latin America and throughout the Caribbean islands do not have human rights.
There are so many age old questions concerning the unity or progress of black people. Excuse me...Afro-descendant people. Yes, that is what we are called. And we named ourselves. Gone are the days when we have to wait on other folks to name us. We have had to check the box with so many different titles that a core group of intellects decided that enough is enough!! As thinking people, we all know the horrific changes our ancestors have had to endure. Aren't you tired of the pacifiers being given to us? Don't you want to finally bring this legacy of pain to a point of healing?
Our brothers and sisters are scattered throughout the slavery diaspora tired just like we are. No matter how high your salary is...no matter how educated and well traveled you are...you are still without your human rights. Your children are without them and your grand children are without them. Why are we focused on all these other inequality, and discrimination issues when we need to handle the original problem that started it all.
When our ancestors were made slaves, they were made to be chattel. No longer were they considered or treated or legally looked upon as human beings. To date, we are still 3/5's of a human being on the foundation document of this American government.
